Our Purpose

Whether an employee, entrepreneur, or the CEO of a multimillion-dollar firm, women’s inequality issues in the workforce and as business owners, perpetuate as obstacles to success in our capitalistic society.  NAWBO San Antonio’s desire is to address the relevant topics, increase awareness, and improve the business atmosphere for women through seminars and education, lobbying politicians, and fellowship with like-minded local business owners, female and male alike.

Our NAWBO Public Policy Advocates

Our ADVOCATES can be recognized at any NAWBO event by our advocacy pin.

Our ADVOCATES are here to assist all members with public policy questions and resources focused on the following advocacy areas which can impact our businesses:

·         Health (national awareness months),

·         Community (education and socio-economic issues),

·         Legislative (primarily local and statewide focus for small businesses), and

·         Growth (supplier diversity, procurement opportunities, sustainability, etc.).

If you see an ADVOCATE, let them know if there is a public policy issue impacting your business.

Going beyond education, NAWBO-SA’s Public Policy Initiative will also work to encourage the inclusion of women business owners on local / regional / state boards & commissions. NAWBO-SA will continue to champion our members to transform public policy, influence opinion makers and support women entrepreneurs who seek public office. As NAWBO Advocates, we will educate our members about public comment opportunities with the City of San Antonio and Bexar County and provide updates of legislation reform that we are currently monitoring on behalf of our members.

* NAWBO-SA does not represent or support any political party.

A National Platform

NAWBO was founded in 1975 to open doors for women entrepreneurs by transforming public policy and influencing opinion makers. NAWBO has continued to represent the issues and concerns of small and women-owned businesses at the national and state levels. Through Congressional testimony, public policy conferences, scheduled meetings with Congressional Representatives, and member education, NAWBO has been and will continue to be at the forefront of advocacy on behalf of women business owners and the issues that impact their companies.

Our State Presence

If you were given a platform with the right person to put your business or industry in a better position to succeed, would you take it? Being disengaged about legislation changes can result in unintended consequences for not only your business, but also others in your industry.

In addition to having presence at Small Business Day at the Capitol every legislative year, our NAWBO-SA members actively advocate about the UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES of legislation by providing testimony on proposed legislation and the impact to our businesses.
